Sophomore Briggs Deardorff had a huge day in his first Channel League meet winning the Varsity Boys race in 16:46. The rest of our scoring continues to be bunched as the Dons pack keeps running together.
Clovis Invitational

Beautiful day at the Clovis invitational. Most of the best teams in California were in attendance to preview the State Championship course. Dons all ran at or near personal best 5K’s.
Briggs Deardorff led the scoring with 35th place in Division II and 25th Sophomore over all divisions.

Pepperdine Invitational

A beautiful college level course. Great to see Dons Alum Derek Tobin running for Westmont in the College Division. Huge win for Briggs Deardorff in the Frosh Soph race. 16:40 and first place in his first race as a Don. Lead pack of three most of the way. Won the race with a surge at the top of the last hill and kept opening up the lead through the finish.

Nice early season team showing at Seaside. About a minute splitting our scorers with lots of others knocking on the door for both teams.
Personal bests from Donovan Fisk (18:01), Nathaniel Taylor (18:10), and Jamie Watson (19:30).
Dons Cross Country debut for Olivia Walker, Riley Folsom, Kelley Drechesler, Mia Owens, Savannah Meares, Karen Villegas, Connor Kerns, Tanner Wolf, Marshall Pingle, David Sosa, and Nathaniel Taylor.

Channel League Winners

Dons winning league titles were Christina Miller (F/S Girls Discus), Brittany Couture, Jackie Kerns, Zoe Brier, and Tessa Emerson (F/S Girls 1600M Relay). Double winners were Tyler Parent (F/S Boys Discus and Shot Put) and Krista Drechsler (Varsity Girls 3200 M).
That leaves Krista undefeated in Channel League in the 3200 the last 2 seasons. With two SB County Championships in the 3200 and wins in all three League meets and the County meet in Cross Country it’s safe to say she had a dominant year on the local High School distance scene.
Krista Drechsler to UC Davis

Congratulations to Krista Drechsler on signing with the UC Davis Aggies for Cross Country and Track and Field. She signed after taking visits to Cal, Columbia, MIT, and UCSB. Davis is a program on the rise in the Big West Conference. A 5.0 student looking to go into Chemistry, UC Davis is great fit for Krista competitively and academically.

Welcome to Dons Harriers and the blog for all things Santa Barbara Dons Cross Country and Track & Field. The spring Track & Field season is upon us. The team has been hard at work and begins full in-season practice on Monday February 11. Our Intersquad Pentathlon and Fundraiser are February 19-20 and competition begins in earnest on Saturday March 1 with the Don Green Invitational at Moorpark High School.
